The Crown Conference Centre provides an important companion facility to the existing Crown Promenade Hotel and its conference facilities. Intended to work seamlessly together the new building has been conceived as an extension to the Hotel, both functionally and aesthetically. The architectural expression of the Conference Centre has utilised elements from the architectural language of the Crown Promenade Hotel to create an expression that while very much part of the existing Hotel, also responds to the particular condition of its site and programme.</p>

The additional 6 meeting rooms all feature natural light and artwork by Australian photographer Earl Carter.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The new facility also houses a dedicated conference organiser’s suite, cafés on each level and the pre-function spaces feature artwork by international and Australian artists including a 7-metre painting by Waldemar Kolbusz.The Crown Conference Centre is connected to the new Crown Metropol Hotel, retail precinct and car park via a glazed pedestrian air bridge beneath the Kingsway overpass.The Crown Conference Centre sets a new benchmark for conference venues in Australia and together with the new Crown Metropol Hotel, completes the urban vision for Whiteman Street and the Crown Entertainment Precinct.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">A couple approaching retirement age, and relocating to Austin, wanted to maximize resources in the building of their unique theme. The wife&#8217;s sister will live with them in a co-housing arrangement that allows separation of the couple and sister&#8217;s personal spaces while sharing the public spaces.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4144" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 463px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/house-design-of-beverlys-cool-house/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4144" title="House Design of Beverly's Cool House" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Beverlys-Cool-House10.jpg" alt="Beverly's Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect" width="453" height="596" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Beverly&#39;s Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A home office for all three of the owners was designed into the scheme. Located at the crest of a steep hill, in an established neighborhood, the lot offered breathtaking views, yet faced squarely into the hot Texas afternoon sun. The strong prevailing breeze was amplified by the precipitous drop below, to the neighbors rear yard. Hence the extensive use of shading trellises, awnings, covered porches, and screened porches to allow the enjoyment of natures gifts while being protected from her harsher side.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4143" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 461px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/house-design-of-beverlys-cool-house/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4143" title="House Design of Beverly's Cool House" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Beverlys-Cool-House9.jpg" alt="Beverly's Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect" width="451" height="596" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Beverly&#39;s Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The owners&#8217; progressive tastes inspired the architects to experiment with dynamic forms inside and out while utilizing traditional building techniques. A multi-story scheme with a walkout basement allowed for this, while making full use of the compact site.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4142" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/house-design-of-beverlys-cool-house/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4142" title="House Design of Beverly's Cool House" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Beverlys-Cool-House7.jpg" alt="Beverly's Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect" width="570" height="752" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Beverly&#39;s Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;Green&#8221; principles abound beyond the use of careful site planning and orientation. Energy efficiency features include careful window placement and overhang sizing, a ventilated radiant barrier metal roof system, a central stair tower designed to enhance the flow of natural ventilation by creating an internal thermal siphon, a hydronic (water based) heating system, and a water tower enhanced cooling system that works better the hotter it gets outside! &#8220;Green&#8221; building materials selections include the use of post consumer recycled cardboard for the wall insulation and siding, utilizing locally quarried stone and a mix of exterior cladding materials that are light in color to reduce solar heat gain.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4141" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/house-design-of-beverlys-cool-house/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4141" title="House Design of Beverly's Cool House" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Beverlys-Cool-House6.jpg" alt="Beverly's Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect" width="570" height="752" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Beverly&#39;s Cool House - Barley &amp; Pfeiffer Architect</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">These features, along with many others, demonstrate that one can achieve significant environmental compatibility without resorting to unusual building techniques.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The Maharashtra Cricket Association in West India has commissioned Hopkins Architects to design a new 55,000 seat stadium in Pune near Mumbai.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4115" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/landscape-building-of-mca-pune-international-cricket-centre/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4115" title="Landscape Building of MCA Pune International Cricket Centre" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/MCA-Pune-International-Cricket-Centre6.jpg" alt="MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects" width="570" height="353" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The sloping site enjoys superb panoramic views. Rebalancing levels results in a bowl of terraced seating for spectators centred on the Match Ground, creating a &#8220;place&#8221; around which development can grow.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4113" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/landscape-building-of-mca-pune-international-cricket-centre/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4113" title="Landscape Building of MCA Pune International Cricket Centre" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/MCA-Pune-International-Cricket-Centre4.jpg" alt="MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects" width="570" height="353" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Four stands sit over this terrace accessed via a wide pedestrian concourse, the gaps between not only providing views to the horizon but airflow and daylight.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4112" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/landscape-building-of-mca-pune-international-cricket-centre/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4112" title="Landscape Building of MCA Pune International Cricket Centre" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/MCA-Pune-International-Cricket-Centre3.jpg" alt="MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects" width="570" height="353" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Upper levels include further seating for spectators, a Members&#8217; Pavilion, hospitality boxes, and facilities for broadcasting and press. Parking is provided on surrounding land. With cricket played November-May, the sun is often low. Membrane roofs provide shade and, together with the elegantly braced structure of the steel and concrete stands in this seismic zone, create a memorable form for the Stadium.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<div id="attachment_4111" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 580px"><a href="http://image-graphicdesign.com/landscape-building-of-mca-pune-international-cricket-centre/"><img class="size-full wp-image-4111" title="Landscape Building of MCA Pune International Cricket Centre" src="http://image-graphicdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/MCA-Pune-International-Cricket-Centre21.jpg" alt="MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects" width="570" height="353" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">MCA Pune International Cricket Centre - Hopkins Architects</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Members&#8217; amenities focus on the adjacent Practice Ground, comprising restaurants, sports and spa facilities, together with a residential Indoor Cricket Academy. City centre grounds often develop incrementally. Here we can model an international ground from scratch, offering not only the perfect setting for the World Cup, but also an excellent base for future development.</p>
