Landscape Design of Dos Lagos Live / Work and Age-Restricted by Nardi Associates. Part of the Dos Lagos Mixed-Use community, this complex is an experiment in medium-density housing nestled among recreational, retail, and commercial office space in this master-planned community. It is comprised of 174 for-sale residential units in two types: 93 live/work townhouses and 81 age-restricted apartments. Located on 7.3 acres bordered on the south by the two man-made lakes at Dos Lagos and Temescal Canyon Road to the east. The west and northern adjacent properties are earmarked for future development of hospitality and commercial uses.

The live / work residential units are the first of their kind to be built from the ground up in Riverside County and boast generous ground floor work areas for small businesses. The town homes’ upper two floors have a separate entrance and are residential. Spacious town homes range in size from 1,900 to 2,900 sq. ft. and have expansive balconies and terraces toward canyon views. Residents enjoy a central recreational area and clubhouse.

The fundamental design premises for the complex include : two accesses and exits to the complex from adjacent streets provide fluid circulation throughout. The entry plaza created on the northeast corner of the site and along Temescal Canyon Road visually and functionally connects the site with the Clepsydra (water clock) Plaza and cul-de-sac by the lakes. The building on this corner is 4-stories high and celebrates the major diagonal axis of the site.
