House Architecture Design of Low-Carbon House by Jerry Tate Architects. On a site in a market town in Suffolk, this new-build timber-framed house is a modern interpretation of local agricultural buildings.
Internally the smaller rooms are grouped together in one half of the envelope volume, in order to provide a dramatic double-height living space with a central sculptural fireplace made from local flint at the centre.
A combination of a ground source heat pump, super-insulation, photovoltaic cells and clever daylighting strategies reduce the energy requirements of the house, so that it becomes extremely efficient.
