Building Architecture Design of QVII by Mcbride Charles Ryan. The ratail base of this building is set at the height of the cornice of the adjacent State Library, and in that sense is an acknowledgement of the scale of the ninteenth century city.

The apartment building above ontrasts in form and material with the retail bese. The sinuous shape has been worked to unlock views and light particularly to the southern apartments as well as to accentuate the form and the contrasts with the base below.

The interiors all feature a coloured central core, with an outside perimeter wall in contrasting white. Four colour schemes were available to be chosen. The core was treated like a coloured object within a more clinical gallery type space.
