Building Architecture Design of JCM Engineering Manufacturing by Nardi Associates. Ontario is the distribution hub of manufactured goods to much of the United States and, as such, is filled with anonymous, big-box, tilt-up buildings. As a precision manufacturer of aerospace parts, JCM Engineering Corporation wanted to break the box and make a statement on its corporate identity – entrepreneurial, high-flying, industry leader.

The celebration of aerospace technology is expressed thorough the imposing presence of a suspended aluminum wing acting as an entry canopy. The wing penetrates the building, protruding into the exhibition lobby hovering between exterior and interior spaces. Inside, a transparent wall envelops a conference space, and large openings in the lobby’s interior wall, articulate a strong connection between the visitor/administration area and the voluminous manufacturing spaces.

This project exemplifies the architect’s vision and commitment to integrate public art into architecture, even unexpectedly in industrial settings.

Its 145,000-sq. ft. facility includes 120,000-sq. ft. of automated state-of-the-art machining and production technology and an exhibition lobby and reception area, conference room, administration and computer technology control area, indoor racquetball court, and staff support areas (lounge, dressing rooms, etc…).
