Architecture Building Design of North Wing & Gatehouse Development St Bartholomew’s Hospital by Hopkins Architects. At Barts and the London we were appointed by the Trust to carry out an option appraisal/ feasibility study for the future of the North Wing, Gatehouse and Pathology Building at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital (Barts) was founded in 1123 and is the oldest hospital in England and the only medieval hospital in London still standing on its original site. Barts North Wing is one of the four buildings designed by the architect James Gibbs which together surround the central square at Barts. It comprises a range of offices and meeting room accommodation, together with the Great Hall, kitchen facilities, archives strongrooms and the Barts Museum.
